A website called “gotquestions.org” says, “The act of murder itself was certainly condemned, but hatred is a “heart” sin, and any hateful thought or act is an act of murder in God’s eyes for which justice will be demanded, possibly not in this life but at the judgment. So heinous is the position of hate before God that a man who hates is said to be walking in darkness, as opposed to the light (1 John 2:9, 11).”
Hatred is a reactionary response to something - most likely coming from having been hurt & wanting to hurt in return! That is a common response of ‘natural man’ - the response of one who has not experienced Your (God's) love sufficiently!
Hatred also seems like the quick, normal & easy response! To have hatred, one doesn't have to think things through, keep their emotions in check etc they just react!
“but love overlooks all wrongs.” To choose to love, I have to determine to get the facts/truth, keep my emotions & reactions in check, take the situation to U to get/learn Your perspective & Your choice of response! Then I must choose to agree with U, access Your love & approach the situation Your way!
So hatred comes with the help of the devil in league with my ‘natural man’! And to love comes with the help of God in league with my ‘spiritual man’ - who I am, since becoming Christian!
U clearly are One, Who loves! I choose U & love! Show me the . . . Your way!
