A hunter went out into the forest to shoot a bear. With winter soon approaching he planned to make a warm fur coat out of the bearskin. As he saw a bear approaching he raised his gun and took aim.
“Wait!" said the bear. "Why do you want to shoot me?”
"Because I am cold," the hunter said.
"But I am hungry," the bear replied. "Maybe we can reach an agreement.”
In the end, the hunter was enveloped within the bear’s fur, and the bear had eaten his dinner.
The point? Disobedience (even partial) is sin, and when we compromise with sin we always lose. It will consume us in the end.
This Sunday we will study Ezra chapters 9 – 10. Ezra shows us how to deal with sin…no compromise.
